Thyroid Health & Hormone Pellet Therapy for Women

The thyroid is one of the main producers of hormones in both men and women. Thyroid issues can cause women’s hormones to become imbalanced. Read below, as BioTE® Medical explains hormonal imbalance’s most common symptoms, and how you can get help correcting the imbalance.

What Is the Thyroid?

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in your neck that regulates numerous metabolic processes in the body. The thyroid rests directly underneath the Adam’s apple and surrounds the trachea. Iodine is necessary for it to produce hormones. The primary hormone made by the thyroid is called thyroxine (T4). The thyroid operates in conjunction with the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland to control the distribution of thyroxine. When thyroxine quantities drop, the hypothalamus excretes thyrotropin, thus releasing hormones (TRH) which makes the pituitary gland release a hormone which stimulates the thyroid. Greater quantities of thyroid stimulating hormone lets more thyroxine be produced. The structure and function of the thyroid changes because of thyroid disorders. Treatable with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy pellets such as the ones BioTE Medical offers, these disorders can be either acute or chronic. What Are the Kinds of Thyroid Disorders?

There is a wide variety of thyroid disorders. These include thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, goiters, hyperthyroidism, and hypothyroidism. The most standard thyroid issue is hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid creates less thyroid hormone than necessary. This can stem from problems in any part of the thyroid feedback loop, including the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and the thyroid gland itself. Sufferers of hypothyroidism report symptoms such as fatigue, poor concentration, dry skin, constipation, feeling cold, fluid retention, muscle aches, depression and excessive menstrual bleeding in women.
