This Board has been specifically selected for their outstanding reputation as leaders in their respective fields of medicine, as well as their commitment to providing the best medical care to their valued patients. The mission of the Board is to provide medical and technical guidance to ensure BioTE continues to deliver the safest, most effective form of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Gary S. Donovitz, M.D. (Chairman)
Dr. Gary Donovitz is a best-selling author of Age Healthier Live Happier and is the CEO and founder of BioTE Medical, LLC. He started his practice in 1985 in Arlington, Texas. Born and bred in Dallas, he graduated from The University of Texas and finished medical school at The University of Texas in San Antonio. His residency training was at Tulane University in New Orleans. He is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Donovitz has always had a special interest in hormone replacement therapy. Treating both men and women, he was an early proponent of bio-identical hormones. In 2007, he received advanced training in BHRT therapy.
Fellow American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Diplomat American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Texas Medical Association, American Association of Gynecology Laparoscopists, Tarrant County Ob-Gyn Society. Dr. Donovitz has been given the Excellence Award at the 2009 SottoPelle Annual Conference and was recognized as one of the country’s top BHRT physicians.
Derrick DeSilva, M.D.
Derrick M. DeSilva Jr., M.D., is a practicing internist at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J. He is on the teaching faculty at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J., has lectured on various topics in medicine, nationally and internationally, and is a member of the following associations:
- The American Medical Association
- The Society of Internal Medicine
- President of the American Nutraceutical Association
- Chairman of Age Management Medicine Conference
Dr. DeSilva has his own radio talk show called "Ask the Doctor," as well as his own television show, which airs in New Jersey.
He has also written and published the following books:
- Coping with Lyme Disease - published by Henry Holt, 1993
- Ask the Doctor - published by Interweave Press, 1997
Besides radio, his national television exposure has been attained in hosting medical segments on CNN and appearing as a guest on numerous national television programs, including ABC’s "Nightline." Dr. DeSilva has been instrumental in the formulation of more than 100 different natural products and has been honored with the following recognition:

G. DeAn Strobel, M.D.
DeAn Strobel, M.D. is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She has been practicing medicine in Sherman, TX since 1999.
After the birth of her twins, Dr. Strobel no longer practices obstetrics, and instead focuses her practice on a wide array of healthcare services including wellness and hormone balance, gynecology, well-woman exams, gynecologic surgery (laparoscopic surgery, hysterectomies, female sterilization, endometrial ablations and more), nutritional evaluation and modification, as well as the functional medicine approach to complex and chronic disease.
She concentrates on treating the whole woman, not just the numbers, and has expanded her practice to evaluate and treat male patients for wellness and hormonal balance. She has also developed a medical spa called Allure Laser and Medical Spa. There, she is able to treat more of patients’ cosmetic concerns, which can sometimes cause significant anguish or stress.
Together, Dr. Strobel and her team are able to focus on caring for the patient as a whole person and not just a diagnosis. At their clinic, they strive to make the patient feel like an individual.
Steven Komadina, M.D.
Steven A. Komadina, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is board certified and a fellow of the American College of OB/GYN. He has treated patients with hormone replacement therapy for more than four decades and has continually changed the method of therapy as the science has evolved. From pills to injections, to patches and creams, and from gels to troches and now to pellets, he has the experience to pick the method best for each individual patient. Dr. Komadina is delighted to serve his patients with cutting-edge techniques developed through a partnership with BioTE.
He is an internationally known lecturer on nutrition and wellness and has written books about prevention of disease, wellness, and nutrition. He teaches and lectures doctors and the public all over the world on wellness and nutrition and has organized international wellness assemblies to bring doctors and wellness specialists together. He has served as president of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association and the New Mexico Medical Society. In the last 10 years, he has served humanitarian missions in emerging countries on four continents.
He served eight years as a New Mexico State Senator and has advised presidents, governors, and legislators about health issues for decades.
Dr. Komadina currently serves as the governor’s appointee to the New Mexico Medical Board, which licenses all physicians in New Mexico.
Noel R. Williams, M.D.
Dr. Williams earned his B.A. in philosophy from Emory University in Atlanta. He then went on to graduate from Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his internship in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. He then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Williams is an affiliate of Oklahoma Sports Science and Orthopedics, specializing in gynecology. He is board certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Williams is chief of staff of Northwest Surgical Hospital. His professional memberships include the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a past president of the Oklahoma County Obstetrics and Gynecology Society.
He enjoys reading science fiction and exercising. His favorite activities involve family skiing and snowboarding trips with his wife and their four boys, Noel, Calvin, Hugo and Gideon. Dr. Williams describes himself as intense and empathetic. He enjoys reflective thinking upon complex issues affecting his patients and laughing at himself. He is a non-conformist and often wonders why people focus on form over substance to their expense.
Cory Rice, D.O.
Dr. Cory Rice graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in forensic science and then completed medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. He attended Methodist Medical Center of Dallas for his internship, residency and chief resident year in Internal Medicine. He spent two years in outpatient traditional Internal Medicine (including inpatient work in critical care and hospitalist medicine) before co-founding Modern Medicine, a network of practices that provide progressive, yet personalized patient care using the most comprehensive lab work and innovative therapies available today.
Dr. Rice’s professional interests include nutrition based chronic disease management, thyroid optimization, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for men and women. His clinical expertise is in most areas of chronic disease and, ultimately, the treatment and reversal of some of the more commonly encountered conditions in clinical practice today. He is passionate about helping patients reach their health goals while, in many cases, helping them get off of prescription medication. His practice locations are a blend of both functional medicine and lifestyle medicine. Dr. Rice is an expert in the area of advanced bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, including pellet therapy as a certified BioTE Method physician.
Dr. Rice serves on several medical advisory boards and speakers bureaus and has been featured on local television as well as local and national radio to discuss a wide range of health care topics, including obesity in adults and children, healthy eating, healthy exercise, hormones, thyroid, and lifestyle medicine. He remains actively involved in the education of young trainees and established healthcare practitioners on the benefits of lifestyle medicine and hormone (thyroid, sex hormones, adrenals) optimization as it relates to 21st century chronic disease. Dr. Rice is a certified physician mentor through BioTE Medical where he frequently mentors in-state and out of state physicians from a variety of specialties looking to implement a similar treatment philosophy at their respective practice(s).
Marcy Henson, M.S., R.N., F.N.P.-C
Marcy Henson is a family nurse practitioner who is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated summa cum laude with her master’s of science as a family nurse practitioner from TWU in 2007.
She is currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, American Association of Critical Care Nursing and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She serves on the board of directors for the Children and Community Health Center (CCHC), which is an indigent care clinic that provides health care services to citizens of Collin County who do not have access to health care.
Marcy also teaches as an adjunct instructor at TWU in the master’s of science family nurse practitioner program and works for MD on Call, assisting with hospitalist responsibilities at Baylor Frisco Medical Center.
As a health care provider, Marcy’s goal is to empower patients to take charge of their own health by providing them with valuable information that allows them to make informed and educated decisions regarding their personal health. She believes that preventive medicine should be our priority, and it is our role to provide the necessary information to patients to help them accomplish the goals of staying well and preventing illness.
J. Mark Anderson, M.D., D.A.B.F.P.
A graduate of Texas A&M, Dr. Anderson went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He holds a board certification in Family Medicine and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. He is also certified in Age Management Medicine by the Age Management Medicine Education Foundation (AMMEF).
Dr. Anderson is a co-author of several award-winning books including Stay Young: 10 Proven Steps to Ultimate Health and Age to Perfection: How to Thrive to 100, Happy, Healthy, and Wise. When he is not treating patients, he spends his time as an expert for the media, including television and radio. In addition to guest appearances, he is a co-host of the nationally syndicated Staying Young Radio Show which is currently heard in thirty markets.
As an expert in age prevention and bio-identical hormones, his passion is keeping his patients in optimal health through a personalized approach to wellness. This approach is enhanced by his unending determination to understand the latest science and technology available, allowing him to apply that information within his practice. He has been recognized by numerous organizations including being named a Healthcare Hero by the Fort Worth Business Press.
Mandy Cotten, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Dr. Mandy Cotten FNP-C graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) in 2010. Upon graduation, she began her career working in Labor and Delivery at John Peter Smith hospital. While working at JPS, she completed her Doctorate through Loyola University in New Orleans with clinical training at JPS and Baylor. She graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in May 2015 and is now a Family Nurse Practitioner certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Dr. Cotten FNP-C is passionate about helping others and holistic health care. She feels strongly about providing education and options to her patients so that they can be involved in making decisions about their health care. Mandy followed in her father’s footsteps (Dr. Gary Donovitz) and currently manages his practice in Arlington Texas. At the Institute for Hormonal Balance, she performs over 300 pellet procedures monthly and has performed over 10,000 pellet procedures.
She also is the Clinic Coordinator at BioTE. Through this position, she helps train others in the importance of hormone optimization and helping people achieve the highest quality of life. The clinic at BioTE in sees over 130 patients and trains over 70 practitioners monthly. Dr. Cotten also trains the front and back office staff of our new practices about the basics of hormones, how to integrate hormones into their offices, and how to manage complications and patient concerns. She was invited to present at the North Texas Nurse Practitioners Association on Hormone Optimization and was selected as a Top Family Nurse Practitioner by the International Nurses Association in 2017. Dr. Cotten FNP-C is also a member of NAMS (North American Menopause Society and AMMG (Age Management Medicine group).
